Match Report

A promising start to the season. New Skipper Olly won the toss and new player Steve Laudat got off to a great start. Steve got a really quick 47 and the skipper chipped in with an equally quick 44. The middle order then struggled a bit until Sam Jones opened his shoulders at the end of the innings to notch an impressive 32.
177 for 8 on an average wicket. We fancied our chances.

Watlington got off to a great start though. 49 for no wicket after 10 overs. Then in Dave Harris's 6th over the stumps went flying and then Gareth Ray took a sharp catch. Duds got in on the act in the very next over and Watlington are reeling at 49 for 3. But then Watlington dig in for another 10 overs. Nothing happens till Sam Hollingshead traps Smith lbw. 111 for 4. Junior tempts Taylor into a lofted drive and incredibly, Duds doesn't drop it! 116 for 5. The runs keep coming as Duds gets 3 more wickets but it's all too late as Watlingon scrape home with 4 overs to spare.

Never mind. Watlington will be up there at the end of the season. It's a decent (if disapointing ) start.

Duds.
