21st September 2001
A local farmer has agreed to harrow and seed the new field at no cost to us. He has also sourced a suitable grass seed at agricultural rates. A decision has been taken to proceed with sowing the field. The first of three 'harrowings' has taken place. The cost of the seed will be mostly off-set by the donation made to this operation by the previous leasee, Martin Rogers. The total cost to the Club (for seed) will be less than £100. More info at the dinner tonight. The field will need stone-picking but this is mostly required where the old track used to be. The rest of the field has very few stones on it. Repairs to the present field. I have repaired three strips. The rest will need repairing this weekend if the weather is suitable. I will be press-ganging stone-pickers and pitch-repairers tonight.
