We now have planning permission to develop a cricekt club on the site (this includes the necessary changes of use). The delay in planning permission was due to the necessity of assurances from the club regarding building work on the flood plain.
A site meeting with Brian Butler, Square Contractor, took place on the 8th September and was quite positive. Brian would like to commence asap but other commitments may delay him.
The outfield has not consolidated as well as was hoped due to the dryness of the summer, but it has improved noticeably. Although no grass cutting has taken place for over 4 weeks, we have been able to use the chain harrow. Please go and walk around the field and if you could clear any stones from the grass it would be a great help.
We now need to get a water connection...also, the electricity board are awaiting new switchgear behind the Jet garage, which may well be waiting for the redevelopment of the Little Chef area. Once the switchgear is in place, the electricity pylons and cables should be removed.
With the experience in building the net for Billy the Bowler, it may be possible to start work on nets at the new field ... lookout for work notices!!!
