Match Report

Thanks for coming:

This was actually much better. We may have lost by a few runs but there were signs for hope.

Skipper Olly Willans made FOUR changes following last weeks debacle and on a pitch containing four-inch long strands of grass (no...no...but seriously) we got off to a good start. Dave and Heeed bowled a miserly opening spell before Junior and Duds nailed the openers. Mention should be made here of a spectacular catch by Gully. After dropping 2 fairly simple ones he launched himself horizontally before pinching the ball between finger and thumb. Truly spectacular.

Then Els, Bludge and Gareth each took a catch on their respective returns to first team action. Dave Harris bowled tremendously on a hardly helpful pitch. 3 for 63 could have easily been 6 for 33 but we reckoned that 212 was get-able.

With eleven overs to go we only needed 80 with 6 wickets remaining. Butts belted the ball straight and hard for 32. Junior chipped in. Olly hit an excellent 52 before playing around one and Bludge kept us up with the run rate with a nice 26.

Blackers started to cut loose as only Blackers can before falling for 13 and now we were worried. Rumour has it they may have been Blackers last Innings for a while. What entertainment he has been over the years. Surely too young to retire for a life of fishing from strategically placed trees. And Els says he's a marvellous boss too!

I digress. Unfortunately, the rest of us buggered it up rather.

We are going to give some one a good shoeing soon. When are we playing the Gibbon?
