In an exciting first game of the season for both teams, Cumnor edged home by 3 wickets with 4 balls to spare.
Eynsham batted first and scored 70 – 5 off 20 overs. The team faced very tight bowling and good fielding, Alex Howells falling to a particularly excellent catch.
Good innings by Christian Drury (19), Dominic Coe (13) and a late flourish by Oliver Richardson provided the back bone of the Eynsham batting.
Cumnor had to battle hard to reach 72 – 7 off 19.2 overs. Excellent bowling by Tom Ford (2 – 6), Dominic Coe (2 – 22) also backed up by tight bowling from Christian Drury, Jack Ward, Oliver Richardson and Ben Stratford.
A very pleasing aspect was the fielding of the Eynsham team with 3 Cumnor batsmen run out and fine catches taken by Dominic Coe and wicket keeper Fin Bibby.
This was a much improved performance compared to this fixture last year and augurs well for the new season.
